Terms of use
These terms of use govern trainchartvacancy.com, an independent Indian railway information site. We publish train timetable pages built from one dated feed of 10,594 trains, plus a seat checker that asks a commercial data provider. We do not sell tickets, book seats, handle PNR numbers or take payments. The site is free to use, on the conditions below.

By using this site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. Nothing here takes away a right you have under Indian consumer law.
What we provide
We provide information, and only information. That is three things.
Timetable pages carry train numbers, names, stops, timings, distances and running days, built from one dated public feed. Every page names the feed version it came from, in the footer. When a newer feed is taken in, the pages are rebuilt from it.
The seat checker takes a train number, two station codes and a date. We ask a commercial rail data provider what the booking system shows. We print the answer with the time in IST at which we fetched it. We hold no booking data of our own.
The explainers cover chart preparation, quota codes, coach classes and refunds. Each one cites the circulars and rules it rests on. How we work sets out the method behind all three.
What we do not provide
This matters more than the list above, because most people arrive here looking for one of these.
| You want to | We can | Go to |
|---|---|---|
| Book, change or cancel a ticket | Not do this at all | The railways' own booking channels |
| Look up a PNR | Not do this. We never ask for, accept or store a PNR | The RailOne app, or 139 |
| See the real chart for your train | Not do this. Berth-level charts are the railways' own | The railways' online chart service |
| Get a refund or file a TDR | Not do this, and not chase one for you | The channel you booked through |
| Be told whether your ticket clears | Not do this. Nobody honestly can | What the rules say after charting |
We are not a travel agent, a booking agent, an IRCTC partner or an authorised representative of any railway body. We are not affiliated with Indian Railways, IRCTC or CRIS, and we do not act on their behalf. See the disclaimer for the full statement.
Acceptable use
Use the site the way a passenger would. Read pages, run checks, follow links.
Do not scrape, crawl or automate the checker. Each live check costs us money, and the budget is small. Our own caps allow 25 calls a minute and 1,100 a day for the whole site, inside a paid monthly allowance. One script can spend a month of that in an afternoon, and leave the checker dark for everybody else. We meter checks per address, and a request we cannot serve from store may be refused.
Do not attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site or the machine it runs on. Do not republish our pages wholesale as your own. You are welcome to quote a page with a link back to it, and welcome to link to any page here without asking.
Accuracy, and the data-source disclaimer
Everything on this site is compiled from published documents and third-party data. It is not an official source, and it is not a confirmation of anything.
The timetable feed is a volunteer project on GitHub. It carries no licence file and no promise of accuracy. Its own status note says when the data was made, rather than that it is current. We check it on ingest, we publish the defects we find, and we do not silently correct it. Live availability comes from a commercial provider, is cached briefly on our server, and is true only as of the stamp printed beside it.
Rules change. The chart-preparation timing changed three times during 2025. Where our evidence for a rule is a press report rather than a document we have read, the page says so in the same sentence as the claim. Where we do not know something, the page says that rather than filling the gap.
Before you travel, confirm on the railways' own channels. If this site disagrees with them, they are right.
Limitation of liability
The site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that it will be available, uninterrupted, complete or free of error.
To the fullest extent permitted by Indian law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, this site. That includes a missed train, a missed connection, a cancellation charge, a fare difference, a lost booking or any indirect or consequential loss. Decisions about your journey are yours to make.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud.
Links to other sites
We link to railway circulars, government releases, rules on public legal sites and, at times, news reports. We do not control those sites and are not answerable for what they publish. A link is a citation, not an endorsement.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The "Page last updated" date at the foot of this page changes with them, and material changes are noted in the corrections log. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the Indian courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
