Train Chart Vacancy

What your reservation status means

Paste the status the reservation system gave you — RSWL 45, GNWL 80/WL 19, RAC 62, CURR_AVBL-0426 — and this page says what that string means and what follows from it. It reads the string only; it never asks for a PNR.

Paste your status

Type or paste it exactly as the system showed it — RSWL 45, GNWL80/WL19, RAC 62, CURR_AVBL-0426. Case and spacing do not matter.

The waiting-list codes

The letters say whose queue you are in, and that is what decides whether the number in front of you is likely to move. How the queues differ goes into each one.

Every waiting-list prefix this site recognises, read from the same table the availability checker applies.
CodeWhich queueHow it behaves
GNWL General waiting list The strongest queue. It is taken from the originating station's own quota, and it clears more often than the others.
RLWL Remote location waiting list A small queue held for an intermediate station. It moves only if someone booked for that same stretch cancels.
PQWL Pooled quota waiting list One queue shared by several intermediate stations, so it is competing with more people than an RLWL of the same number.
TQWL Tatkal waiting list The Tatkal queue. It is not taken up before the chart in the ordinary way, and it clears far less often than GNWL.
CKWL Tatkal waiting list The Tatkal queue, under its other name.
RSWL Roadside station waiting list A queue for a roadside station near the origin. Small, and it moves only on cancellations for that stretch.
RQWL Request waiting list A request queue for a pair of stations that has no quota of its own. It moves last.
DPWL Duty pass waiting list A quota-specific queue. It moves only on cancellations within that quota.
HOWL HO quota waiting list A quota-specific queue. It moves only on cancellations within that quota.
LDWL Ladies quota waiting list A quota-specific queue. It moves only on cancellations within that quota.
PPWL Passenger pooled waiting list A quota-specific queue. It moves only on cancellations within that quota.
RCWL RAC-cum waiting list A quota-specific queue. It moves only on cancellations within that quota.
RLGN Remote location general waiting list A quota-specific queue. It moves only on cancellations within that quota.
SSWL Senior citizen waiting list A quota-specific queue. It moves only on cancellations within that quota.

The other states

What the system says when you are not in a queue, and the step that follows from each.
StateWhat it meansWhat to do
Available Berths are free in that class and quota at the moment the system was asked. Book it. The figure moves.
Current booking available The chart is made and berths have been released for sale. This is what this site calls a chart vacancy. Book at once, online or at a counter. These go quickly.
RAC (reservation against cancellation) You may board. You get a shared seat rather than a berth, and a full berth may still come free before departure. You can travel on this ticket.
Regret Booking and the waiting list are both closed for that quota. Try another class, another quota, or another train.
Not available
NOT AVAILABLE, NOT AVBL

This page reads the status string you type and nothing else. It makes no network call, it does not look your booking up, and nothing you type is sent anywhere or stored. See privacy.
