Corrections
This is the corrections policy for trainchartvacancy.com. If a page here is wrong, we want the document that proves it, and we will change the page and record the change below. The log below lists every correction, and every change to how the site treats your data, since the first pages were published on 3 September 2026.
Last verified .
Every site of this kind gets things wrong. What separates them is whether you can find out, so this page carries the whole record.
How do you report an error?
Write to contact@trainchartvacancy.com. Name the page, quote the line, and give the published source that contradicts it. Two kinds of report change pages here. One is a factual error, sent with the published source that contradicts it. The other is a Railway Board circular or letter newer than the one a page cites, sent with its number and date.
You can also check us yourself. Every explainer ends with the documents behind it, linked to the original rather than to somebody's summary. If a page disagrees with the document it cites, the document is right and the page is wrong.
What counts as an error we can fix?
Not everything that looks wrong is ours to fix, and it saves you time to know which is which.
| What you found | What we need from you | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| A rule stated wrongly | The circular, letter or rule that says otherwise | Correct the page, log it, re-date it |
| A rule that has since changed | The number and date of the newer document | Rewrite the section and the rule history |
| A wrong train time, stop or distance | The train number and what the timetable says | Check the feed; if the feed is wrong we mark the page, not the number |
| An availability figure you think was wrong | The train, date, class and the time stamped on the page | Check the cache trail; we cannot re-create a past moment |
| A broken link or a page that will not load | The address you were on | Fix and log if it changed what a reader saw |
| A typing or spelling slip | Nothing but the page | Fix quietly, no log entry |
Two of those deserve a word. We do not correct the timetable feed. Editing a wrong timing here would swap a sourced number for an unsourced one. So we record the defect and mark or hold back the page instead. And a seat figure cannot be re-checked after the event. It was true at the IST time printed beside it and nowhere else. What we can check is whether we displayed what the provider actually sent, which is a different and answerable question.
What we do with a report
A report that names a document is acted on first, because it can be settled rather than argued. We read the document and decide whether the page is wrong. Then we either change it, or say why we think it stands.
We aim to look at a report within seven days and to publish the correction within fourteen. Those are targets we are setting for ourselves in public, not promises made to anyone, and this page will say if we start missing them.
How is a correction marked?
Four different things can happen to a page, and they are marked differently on purpose.
| Change | Marked how | Logged |
|---|---|---|
| Spelling, punctuation, a clearer sentence | Not marked | No |
| A fact corrected | Dated note on the page, at the section it affects | Yes |
| A claim withdrawn because we cannot support it | The claim is removed and the removal stated | Yes |
| A rule superseded by a newer document | New rule stated, old one kept in the rule history | Yes |
We do not delete a wrong page and pretend it never existed. Where a claim has to go, the page says that it has gone and why, because the reader who arrives from a search result deserves to know what changed under them.
The correction log
Every logged change appears here, newest first, with the date the corrected page went live.
| Date | Page | What was wrong | What it says now |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 October 2026 | Vande Bharat classes and fare rules | Said Executive Chair Car is the one Vande Bharat class the flexi-fare scheme leaves alone, which implied Chair Car fares are flexi-priced. The scheme as the Ministry described it covers Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto trains, and we found no document applying it to Vande Bharat | The claim is withdrawn on both pages, with a dated note where it stood. The comparison table says we found no document applying the scheme to Vande Bharat |
| 4 October 2026 | Vande Bharat classes | Quoted the Ministry's sentence comparing Vande Bharat and Shatabdi capacity without its ending | The full sentence, including the reason the Ministry gives, and a note that the two seat totals on the page may not count the same vehicles |
| 4 October 2026 | Coach position and numbering | Said the number painted on the side of a coach has five digits | Five or six digits. Coaches built since late July 2018 carry six, the first two being the year of manufacture; most older coaches still carry five (IRFCA) |
| 4 October 2026 | Disclaimer | Said chart timings are calculated from a Railway Board circular | They are worked out from the first-chart rule, which rests on a Railway Board letter of 16 December 2025 as reported in the press |
| 4 October 2026 | Advance booking | Showed "last updated " when only the page title and summary had changed that day | Shows 3 September 2026, the last change to what the page says |
| 4 October 2026 | Ten guides: Vande Bharat classes, advance booking, coach classes, current booking after chart, PQWL and RSWL, RAC, RLWL, reading seat availability, TQWL and waitlist after chart | Their Sources line said the documents were checked on the day the page was last edited, 11 or 16 September 2026. The sources were last checked on 3 September 2026, as each page's own "Last verified" line said | The Sources line gives 3 September 2026. The date the page last changed is shown separately |
| 4 October 2026 | About, contact, disclaimer, privacy, terms, the home page and this page | Said there was no way to reach us, no working email address or no mail service, next to text saying the mailbox had been tested and worked. The privacy page's summary, shown on five other pages, said the site set no cookies and ran no ads, and the contact page's summary said there was no working address | The mailbox tested on 3 September 2026 is the contact route on every page. The privacy summary says the ads are served by Google AdSense, which uses cookies |
| 16 September 2026 | Privacy | Described a site with no ads and no cookies. That stopped being true when the Google AdSense script was added that day | Describes the AdSense script, the cookies Google sets and how to opt out |
No row above came from a reader's report. Each was found by our own re-checking, apart from the 16 September row, which was written when the site changed.
What is not a correction
Some things get reported to sites like this that no correction can fix. We cannot change your PNR status, release a berth, chase a refund, or make a chart appear sooner. We are an information site with no connection to the reservation system, as the terms of use set out.
We also cannot settle an argument about a rule when neither of us has the document. Where our own evidence stops, we say so on the page itself. How this site works lists those gaps in one place. They include the chart-timing letter of December 2025 that we have never seen, and the parts of the timetable feed we know to be faulty.
